Why are we such slobs these days?

Everywhere i look i see disgusting fat people in crocs and sweatpants. Girls dress trashy in skintight leggings or lowrise pants and in summer guys often walk around shirtless. In many stores (including the one i used to work at) the staff are lazy, scruffy and rude and the customers are even worse. What happened to basic rules of hygiene, civility and self-respect like "No shoes, no shirt, no service?"
